Country Lake Nature Lodge is home for nature lovers locating amidst natural surrounding on Namsong Lake. The area of 35 acres is home to various species of Thailand’s wild rare plants such as Rattan, Dipterocarpus,and Barrintonia etc.
Lovely animals found here are squirrels, tree shrew, flying squirrels, pangolin, jungle fowls etc. The Country Lake is also a habitat of colorful butterflies and more than 70 species of bird including Jacanas, Doves, Kingfishers, Bee-eaters, Black Drongos, and Woodpeckers etc.
Old people narrate a story of an Anaconda-like giant snake once lived on this horseshoe-shape island of Namsong some 80 years ago. It was believed that the snake belong to the island’s holy spirit. When it was killed by the villagers, the island was abandoned for long years. Before the legend period, King Rama the V had lost his way from Sakaekrang River into Namsong Lake which he called later as Maenam-Duan or a dead-end river since he could not find the way out.
Namsong Lake today is a habitat of fishes, water birds and water lilies. Only 14 families live on the inner
lakeside. Besides fishery, the islanders grow bamboos, corns, bananas and other crops for their livings.
